Jens Hauser war von Oktober 2022 - September 2023 Gastprofessor für Kunstgeschichte am KIT, mit besonderen Forschungs- und Lehrschwerpunkten wie Untersuchungen zur ‚Lebendigkeit’, moderne und zeitgenössische Kunsttheorie und -Geschichte, Museumskunde, Medien-Theorie und -Archäologie, Performance-Theorie und -Geschichte sowie interdisziplinäre Praktiken zwischen Kunst und Wissenschaft. Als Kurator von mehr als 30 internationalen Ausstellungen und Festivals gehen für ihn Denken und Machen Hand in Hand. An der Schnittstelle von Medienwissenschaft, Kunstgeschichte und Erkenntnistheorie hat er im Rahmen seiner Promotion an der Ruhr-Universität Bochum eine ästhetische und erkenntnistheoretische Theorie der Biomedialität entwickelt und verfügt zudem über einen Abschluss in Wissenschafts- und Technologiejournalismus der Université François Rabelais in Tours. Außerdem koordiniert er ein Netzwerk namens (OU)VERT, sammelt und untersucht seit 30 Jahren Phänomene von ‚Grün’.
Hauser hat jüngst in Paris, Kopenhagen und Wien gelebt und gearbeitet, als Forscher am Medizinischen Museum der Universität Kopenhagen und an der École Polytechnique Paris-Saclay, als Senior-Postdoc-Forscher an der Medizinischen Universität Wien und als Fakultätsmitglied des Fachbereichs für Kunst, Kunstgeschichte und Design an der Michigan State University, wo er auch weiterhin Co-Direktor des BRIDGE Artist in Residency-Programms ist. Außerdem lehrt er am Department für Bildwissenschaften der Donau-Universität Krems, an der Universität für Angewandte Kunst Wien und an der Universität Innsbruck, sowie am Department für Kunst und Kunstwissenschaften der Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne. Hauser war auch Organisator der interdisziplinären Konferenz der European Society for Literature, Science and the Arts 2018 in Kopenhagen.

Hauser ist Mitglied in internationalen Jurys von Kunstpreisen wie Ars Electronica, S-T-ARTS, Transitio usw. sowie in mehreren nationalen Wissenschaftsstiftungen. Außerdem ist er als Gründungsmitarbeiter seit 1992 für den europäischen Kultursender ARTE gewesen, hat zahlreiche Reportagen und Radiofeatures für den deutschen und französischen öffentlich-rechtlichen Rundfunk produziert und veröffentlicht seit Jahren Essays im Printjournalismus und in Kunstpublikationen.
Jens Hauser was a guest professor in art history at KIT from October 2022 till September 2023, with special research and teaching focus areas such as investigations into ‘aliveness’, modern and contemporary art theory and history, museum studies, media theory and archaeology, performance theory and history, and art/science cross-disciplinary practices. As a curator of more than 30 international exhibitions and festivals, for him thinking and making go hand in hand. At the intersection of media studies, art history and epistemology, he has developed an aesthetic and epistemological theory of biomediality as part of his PhD at Ruhr University Bochum, and also holds a degree in science and technology journalism from Université François Rabelais in Tours. He also coordinates a network coined (OU)VERT, and collects and studies phenomena of ‚greenness’ since 30 years.
Hauser has recently been living and working in Paris, Copenhagen and Vienna, as a researcher at University of Copenhagen’s Medical Museion and École Polytechnique Paris-Saclay, a senior postdoc researcher at the Medical University Vienna, and a distinguished faculty member of the Department of Art, Art History and Design at Michigan State University, where he also continues to co-direct the BRIDGE artist in residency program. He also teaches at the Department for Image Science at Danube University Krems, at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and at the University of Innsbruck, and at the Department of Arts and Sciences of Art at Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne. Hauser has also been the chair of the interdisciplinary European Society for Literature, Science and the Arts’ 2018 conference in Copenhagen.

Hauser serves on international juries of art awards such as Ars Electronica, S-T-ARTS, Transitio etc., as well as of several national science foundations. He has also been a founding collaborator of the European culture channel ARTE since 1992, has produced numerous reportages and radio features for German and French public broadcasting services, and widely published essays in print journalism and in art books for many years.
